Camping at Kleine Eike near Greyton
Who said camping is not possible in Winter? Yes, the weather does play a role but campsites are more available and the outdoors is always an adventure.
This winter a group of friends decided that camping in the winter should be tested again, with the right equipment of course. We had a weekend in mind and come rain or shine, we were going camping. We took a few extra items that would make our experience in winter a bit more comfortable like stretchers with mattresses to keep off the cold ground, gazebos to keep out the rain and a Cobb to make warm pizzas. All of them are definite must haves.
None of us had ever been to Kleine Eike but we were nicely surprised. Our 2 river front stands were amazing as it was nicely wedged in between the river and the super washing-up facilities. Grass everywhere and the sound of the river when you fall asleep rounds it all off.
Here are a few highlights of the campsite.
Kleine Eike is located 8km from Greyton in the Riviersonderend Valley.
It is an animal friendly campsite so take your best friend along.
There are mountain bike and hiking trails that start from the farm.
The newly built facilities includes amazing hot showers...especially after a cold swim in the river.
Scuttle Tip – The campsite is next to the river with a number of sites further away. The campsites closest to the river has nice shady trees so in summer they would be the best.
